So, last weekend ended up being a ton of fun. I feel like I haven't written here in forever, btw! Holy canoli! Which reminds me... have you ever heard of the expression 'holy canoli' before? Because I swear I made it up, and now all the sudden my roommates and friends are using the expression, and as soon as I tried to tell them that they learned it from me they forcefully denied it. Humph. Totally unfair!
Anyway, last weekend was homecoming. My roommate Danielle was on the court, so it was fun to meet her family who came down from NYC to support her and watch the festivities while rooting for her. An exciting side note: I went to Salvation Army before the talent show on Friday and found an awesome purse. Ok, back to homecoming: the skits at the talent show were pretty funny. Since it was a circus theme, a group of guys (who happened to be my next door neighbors) dressed up as clowns and a tiger and put on a circus show. It was .... interesting, to say the least. Let me just add that dressing up like a tiger in college does not entail a furry suit - it was more along the lines of painting his body orange and black with a black speedo. Yikes. There were some really talented students there, too, who sang and played guitar and piano, someone did impressions (the Family Guy impression was my favorite) and another kid even tried to juggle (yes, tried). The ending show was funny, too - a group of guys dressed in sheet togas spit fountains of water at each other. It was much funnier than it sounds I guess :-P
Rather than staying for the Homecoming festivities on Saturday, I must admit that I skipped out to go to the PA Renaissance Faire. It's only 2 hours away from Dallas, so we made a day of it and even dressed up for the pirate invasion weekend. That's one thing I really like about Dallas, PA: It's very central to other places, like Philly, NYC, Lancaster, Allentown, etc. My hometown is only close to about 1 or 2 neat places, but Dallas is a fairly short drive away from neat things to do.
On Sunday my mom and sister came down to visit, and we had a really nice time. I showed them around the entire campus, and since it was a beautiful day we walked. I even showed them the path out back in the woods, which I love to walk down when the weather cooperates. (It's behind the sports complex behind McHale.)
And, now, here I am, back in the midst of the work week. I have Physics class at 12:30pm, so I should probably be working on homework problems right now.
Ciao
