So, Friday night Campus Ministry kicked off the new year with their annual retreat. We all went to Camp Orchard Hill about 10min off campus. Somehow Campus Ministry manages to actually make ice breakers fun... a feat that I never knew was possible, honestly. I mean, usually ice breakers are monotonous and even embarrassing as you have to remember multiple names of people you've never met before and might never talk to again, yet somehow Campus Ministry makes it worthwhile and fun! The weekend as a whole was a great time, and we even saw a bear outside our cabin on Friday night! :-X
After the retreat Friday night into Saturday, I hit up the Luzerne County Fair over on Rt 118. One of the perks of living in NEPA includes the fair... a night of gyros, pierogies, carnies and of course MULLETS! My friends and I really enjoy mullet-spotting at the fair, and occasionally we'll take sneaky pictures of the back of people's heads 0:-) This year I dared to go on a carnival ride called the Bear Affair, where we squeezed 5 people into a spherical metal bear that spun around in a circle. The bear wobbled scarily the entire time, and I'm pretty sure they shut down the ride after we got off - yikes! Maybe there is a reason that my mother never let me go on rides at the fair when I was little...
When the weekend came to a close, Monday came much too quickly. I did have a pleasant surprise on Monday, though: scores of freshmen turned up to our Circle K meeting! yay! We even have people signed up to play BINGO at the nursing home already :-D It's always encouraging to see active involvement in campus clubs :-)
Well, tomorrow is my first test of the semester! Sociology at 3:30pm... and I work 10-3 before that :-/ Hmmm maybe I should get going and study some more tonight...
ciao,
Megan
