McGowan Hall is Misericordia's Newest Residence Hall

Misericordia University dedicated its newest facility, the Monsignor Andrew J. McGowan Student Residence Hall, on Friday, Aug. 22. Monsignor John Bendik performed the blessing.
The building bears the name Monsignor McGowan, a beloved Misericordia Trustee and Trustee Emeritus who provided leadership, dedication and humor throughout more than 25 years of valuable service to the campus. Monsignor embodied the spirit of the Religious Sisters of Mercy, the founders and sponsors of Misericordia, and their tenets of mercy, service, justice and hospitality.

The first residence hall constructed on campus since 1994, the $5.9 million McGowan Hall opened in March and serves as home to 116 students. The suite-style rooms consist of two double rooms separated by a semi-private bathroom. The atrium-like student lounge and entry way provides study room space and student activity areas critical to the growing residential community on campus. It offers students an enjoyable space to study, socialize and relax. The third and fourth floors of the building also feature social and quiet study lounges, and kitchenettes available for the convenience of students.
