Re: Roommates

A letter will be sent from the Admissions Department regarding campus housing once your deposit has been received.  The letter you receive will show you how to fill out the online application form for housing.

Re: Roommates

I have a few questions...

So we don't find out anything about our roommates till 3 weeks before?

What if we end up not getting along with out roommate?  Will we be able to trade at all or do we just have to tough it out?

And finally, do we have to supply ourselves with a mini fridge and microwave?  I know that has nothing to do with my roommate but I've been dying to know.

Thanks so much!

Re: Roommates
You will be notified the first week in August of who your roommate will be. The Residence Life Office tries its best to make compatible matches for first year roommates. If for some reason you do not get along with your roommate, our staff is trained to conduct roommate mediation sessions. These mediations sessions are usually successful in resolving any issues between the roommates.
There is an option to switch out of your room in the latter half of the fall term. This process involves switching spaces with someone else. The process and when this room switch option is available will be advertised in the residence halls.
With regard to microwaves and refrigerators, these appliances are not provided in the room. McHale Hall does have a lounge on the first floor that has a communal microwave and refrigerator. A resident may bring his/her own microwave (no larger than .9 cu. Ft.) and refrigerator (no larger than 4.6 cu. Ft.). The Residence Life Office also has a contract through an outside vender to allow students to rent microwaves and refrigerators for the room.
