As you can see there are plenty of academic clubs to choose from. From
a being a former student I had plenty of opportunities to join various
clubs including Circle K which is a service organization that helps
with plenty of community efforts including charity dinners, special
olympics, and clothing drives. All of the academic clubs are great
because they help you make connections in your field of interest
through field trips and guest speakers. I was also a part of the
Highlander newspaper staff and Cougar Radio which are open to everyone.
The radio station was the most fun b/c it allows interested students
to have their own show which is broadcasted live on the internet.
There is also talk of acquiring a possible FM frequency in the near
future.
The varsity M club is good for those involved with athletics and SGA
(Student Government) allows students the opportunity to have their
voices heard and promote change for the better. This last semester, a new
was formed called "Cougars for Change." This club's focus is to take on
a new effort each year with the intent to better the campus in some way.
Their first initiative centered around a campus wide going green effort.
Those are just a small sample of clubs available, but all are great and
fun to be a part of.
